The advantages of the eastern branch are continuous rail communication with Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Iran through Kazakhstan, as well as connecting with latitudinal routes and the associated additional freight transportation capabilities to the East. In August 2023, the regularity of departures on RZD Logistics services on the eastern branch of the North-South ITC was increased from 2 to 4 container trains per month.
Container trains are dispatched from the Chekhov, Selyatino and Chelyabinsk-gruzovoy stations, as well as from the territory of the Yuzhnouralsky TLC in the Chelyabinsk region, and the expansion of the range of transported goods continues. In addition, on a regular basis, shipments of goods from Russia to Iran are carried out in import connection.
In early August 2023, the company, conjointly with the Russian Export Center, launched a regular logistics service for the transportation of LCL goods in the Russia-China connection. It allows transportation small batches of goods for b2b trading. As part of this project, customers are provided with a full range of services, including the consolidation of goods from the regions of the North-West, Central and Volga Federal Districts, dispatches of trains on schedule, as well as customer support along the entire route of the cargo. Favorable fixed rates and interaction with China's logistics platform for accepting trains make it possible to transport both LCL and single containers in full shipment and ensure loading in import traffic.
Another logistics product great demand for small businesses is the service for the transportation of small consignments of goods from Vietnam to Chongqing (PRC), and then to any destination in Russia. It was formed with the support of the RZD Logistics subsidiary in Chongqing, which provides for the consolidation/splitting of cargo, the formalisation of all necessary documents and organizes the optimal route through Zabaikalsk, Mongolia or Kazakhstan, depending on the final destination.
In June 2023, RZD Logistics, in partnership with the FESCO transport group, created the joint RailJet service, which provides for delivery of small consignments of goods from China to Russia in postal and baggage cars in 5 days. This is high-speed delivery, capable of attracting to the railway those freight owners who previously used air transport.
The service is especially relevant for customers from high-tech industries, as well as for companies engaged in the field of cross-border Internet trade. RailJet is suitable for transporting goods sensitive to delivery times, which are usually transported by air transport, as well as devices containing Li-Ion (lithium-ion) batteries, which are transported mainly by sea. The main advantages of the RailJet project: high delivery speed — up to 5 days, regularity of departures — 2 times a week on schedule, optimal cost of transportation, maximum guarantee of cargo safety.
These services are intended for different segments of consumers: RailJet is high-speed delivery, service on the route from Vietnam to Russia through Chongqing is container transportation.
Thus, RZD Logistics is able to fully meet the demand in the segment of small batches and LCL cargo with high-speed delivery.
