Practical Use of Electronic (Navigation) Seals

The introduction of electronic devices to ensure the safety of goods transported through the network of Russian railways has been going on for more than one year. Back in 2012, AKB "Compass" on the initiative of the departmental security force of railway transport of the Russian Federation developed the first device called "Sledopyt-T." It was then that the first experimental use of technology operating on the basis of the GLONASS/GPS global satellite system began in the field of security of goods shipped by rail.

The main purpose of creating an electronic device was to combine such methods of cargo security as physical protection of a car, a container with cargo by a departmental security squad and the use of rapid response groups when receiving information about an incident. The integration of these two methods makes it possible to optimise the forces and means of departmental security service, since the assignment of a security squad for each car, container with cargo is a very expensive and cost ineffective method.

Subsequently, companies such as IPK Strazh JSC with the BigLock intelligent system, Digital Platform Development Center LLC (DPDC) with an electronic navigation seal, StarcomSystems and Transtelematica Service Center LLC with electronic devices (locks) Watchlock Pro and Lokies.

Electronic devices (seals) of DPDC LLC are successfully used in the transit of products within the framework of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation as of 27.12.2019 No. 1877, for railway transportation within the framework of the execution of the Order of Roszheldor as of 17.07.2020 No. 285, seals of DPDC LLC and IPK Strazh JSC are used.
