In 2022, container transshipment decreased by 23.4% compared to 2021 and amounted to 4,312.6 thousand TEUs, including the number of loaded containers amounted to 3,171.5 thousand TEUs (-29.6%), of which refrigerated containers - 442.3 thousand TEUs (-16.2%), empty - 1141.1 thousand TEUs (+1.5%).
At the same time, the volume of container shipments in the export direction decreased by 26.7% to 1661.4 thousand TEU, in the import direction - by 29.9% to 1665.5 thousand TEU and in the transit direction - by 34.7% to 132.0 thousand TEUs. Transshipment in cabotage increased by 8.6% to 853.6 thousand TEUs.

The share of container transshipment in the export direction was 38.5%, in the import direction — 38.6%, in cabotage — 19.8%, and in the transit direction 3.1%.

A decrease in container transhipment was observed in the ports: Big Port of St. Petersburg by 54.7%, Novorossiysk by 8.6%, Kaliningrad by 71.0%, ports of Sakhalin — by 3.2%, Ust-Luga — by 38.2%.

The volume of cargo transportation in containers in the seaports of Russia in 2022 decreased by 26.0% compared to 2021 and amounted to 45.3 million tons. Including transshipment in the export direction amounted to 15.2 million tons (-40.8% ), in import — 20.9 million tons (-20.6%), in transit — 1.07 million tons (-38.4%) and in cabotage — 8.7 million tons (+8.3%).
The average weight of one loaded container (TEU) in 2022 was 10.5 tons, which is 3.0 tons less than in 2021.

In 2022, 764.51 million tons of cargo arrived at Russian seaports for shipment by sea, which is 1.5% more than in 2021, of which 355.92 million tons of dry cargo (-1.4%), liquid cargo – 408.59 million tons (+4.3%).
In 2022, 373.45 million tons (+1.0%) were delivered by rail to Russian seaports, 261.29 million tons (+2.3%) by pipeline, 69.4 million tons (- 12.5%) by trucks, 48.9 million tons (+41.3%) by sea and 11.47 million tons (-17.0%) by inland water transport.
The main share of cargo delivered to seaports was carried out by rail - 48.8% and by pipeline - 34.2%. Road transport accounts for 9.1%, sea transport 6.4% and river transport 1.5%.

Delivery of goods to seaports for shipping by sea for 2022
By the end of 2022, 74.41 million tons of cargo were shipped from Russian seaports, which is 4.6% less than last year, including 46.64 million tons (-5.0%) of dry cargo, 27,77 million tons (-3.9%) of liquid cargo.
By road for 2022, 24.34 million tons were exported from Russian seaports, which is 17.9% less than for 2021, by sea — 29.09 million tons (+3.3%), by rail — 18.20 million tons (+13.0%), pipeline — 2.54 million tons (-35.0%) and inland water transport — 240 thousand tons (+27.0%).
The main share of cargo dispatched from seaports was carried out by sea — 39.1%, by road — 32.7% and by rail — 24.5%, pipeline and inland water transport accounted for 3.4% and 0.3%, respectively.
